The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

I just discovered that the final installment of the Christopher Nolan Batman series of movies is scheduled to arrive next year!  I’ve fallen in love with the Batman narrative and the incredible work of Nolan in capturing and framing the characters, plots, and themes–though, I must admit, I’m not a rabid comic book fan and so can’t claim to speak for those who endlessly compare the different Batman movies to the comic series.

The movie, from what I gather, will feature Catwoman and Bane, rather than the Riddler which seemed to surprise most folk.  In addition, the movie will NOT be shot in 3D, apparently allowing Nolan to make better use of filming for IMAX quality cinematography (again, I’m no expert here and welcome more knowledgeable comments, including prognostications on whether the movie will end up in 3D or not).

I look forward to this installment in the newest Batman series, and I hope that it won’t cease after 2012.  However I believe Nolan will be bowing out after this movie, so who knows what direction, if any, the Batman movies will take.

  1. Dear Michael:
This post demonstrates an ability for thoughtful and academic reflection on what lesser theologians would describe as “ANOTHER BATMAN!!! *!&% YEAH!!!!
    Regards and harumph,

  2. Dear Ben,
Where can I get the collected works of lesser theologians?

In other news, you should make plans to come see the movie with me–I enjoy your take on Batman, and your tae kwon do kicks as you walk out the movie theater.
    Cordially,
    Michael
