Enjoyed this theological reflection on the experiential contours of preparing for PhD exams. A great glimpse into the spirit and mind of a UChicago student. I remain glad that I changed vocational trajectories, choosing ministry instead of academia (the whole PhD exams thing was quite a deterrent; not to mention the extended years of student life and studying). That said, I am excited for the budding theologian and educator, Kyle Rader, who is learning to live into his vocation, however messy and miserable it can feel at times. I hope you enjoy his commentary as much as I did.
