My ordination is fast approaching. This weekend I travel with my in-laws from Alliance, OH to Lincolnshire, IL. Eight of us are loading into a 15 passenger van and making the 6 hour trek to Chicagoland. The weekend promises to be filled with the excitement of celebrating with friends, family, and colleagues. My grandparents Swartzentruber are traveling from Idaho, my grandmother Read from Florida, and my parents and brother from Kentucky.
I look forward to seeing old friends from CCC. I could not have asked for a more supportive and encouraging church in this process. CCC has shown me love, generosity, and bottomless energy.
The truth of any ordination is that no candidate is the work of him- or herself alone. Ordination is the working of God’s Holy Spirit on a person shaped and built up by a community of peers, family, and friends. All these various groups of people, and God’s Spirit, will intersect at the ordination service and make it a truly joyous occasion!
There is coverage of the ordination service in the local, online version of the Chicago Tribune called “Triblocal.” Click here for the story.
There is also mention of the ordination in the Illinois-Wisconsin region’s newsletter:
